BioBricks
Sorry, we no longer offer this product!
Due to erratic supply, we are no longer offering Power Logs, BioBricks or Night Logs. Here are some other places that you might try. (We have no affiliation with them; we just know they have sold these products in the past.)
BioBricks are compressed hard wood sawdust (from New England and Eastern Canadian mills) for use in fireplaces and wood stoves. They come in easy to handle 25-pound bags containing 12 bricks. Wood kindling is not required with BioBricks. Just wad up a few sheets of newspaper as shown and you are good to go! Biobricks are designed for wood stoves and fireplaces. In heating mode in a wood stove, they burn approximately 4–6 hours. As ambiance in a fireplace they burn for approximately 1–3 hours.
Why use Biobricks instead of conventional cord wood? Here a few good reasons:
- BioBricks are guaranteed to come dry which means you can store them inside without bugs, ants, mold and mildew issues.
- BioBricks are made from reclaimed wood waste from New England saw mills, making them an environmentally conscious fuel source.
- BioBricks burn cleaner, hotter and longer than cord wood. This means less creosote build-up, less ash cleaning, less stove loading and less pollution
Dimensions of one brick: 6.5" x 4" x 3"
Safety Warning: DO NOT FILL your wood stove with BioBricks! Instead, only fill it half way.
BioBricks are 2 and a half times denser than cordwood and have less than half the moisture. This means that there is a lot more energy per volume. If you fill your wood stove with BioBricks, you risk overheating. This has serious consequences, depending on the make and model of your wood stove and the details of your installation.
For safety reasons, never fill your wood stove more than half full of Biobricks unless you are able to monitor the entire burn. It's a good idea to try your first burn with just six Biobricks. Teepee five of them around crumpled newspaper, put one on top, and then light the newspaper. The newspaper should burn hot enough to start the Biobricks and then they'll keep burning.
