Bulk Up Your Compost for Faster Results

Add Compost Magic to any tumbling compost bin, such as the Sun-Mar Garden Composter, to make compost faster and with fewer odors.

Simply put a brick of the compressed coconut coir in a bucket, add about a gallon of water, then mix the moistened, expanded fibers in to your composting bin.  The coconut coir fibers retain water to keep your compost moist, provide bulk to allow air to penetrate, prevent clumps from forming, and supply carbon to balance nitrogen from kitchen scraps and fresh green garden cuttings.  The end result is compost in less time and with fewer odors.

Coconut coir is a superb solution to foul odors and slime balls in tumbling composters, which are due to an excess of "greens" (i.e. materials rich in nitrogen). You can either keep a brick or two on hand to add as required, or proactively add coconut coir to prevent problems from developing.  If you don't have a ready supply of dry shredded leaves, clean sawdust, or fine wood chips, you can count on compressed coconut coir bricks as a convenient, natural source of the necessary "browns" for aerobic compost.

If you've been attempting the transition from a compost heap to a tumbling composter without success, you may find that Compost Magic is the missing ingredient. Without sufficient "browns," tumbling composters tend to take much longer than necessary to break down materials into usable humus. Simply start adding more "browns" on a regular basis, and the problems disappear, replaced by earthy-smelling, freely-tumbling compost in record time.

Compost Magic is 100% natural and sustainable, made from the fibers of coconut husks that are dried and compressed for easy transportation, storage and handling. Each brick weighs 0.6 kg and expands to over 8 liters in volume when water is added.
